Leif Laws

the bindings that hold unless you loosen them

These protections are already on. You're likely not legally bound as a personal user — this is about running agents you can actually trust. Set the one dial, and the seven laws below do the rest.

Your rules

pick what Leif asks about, and what it refuses outright

The 7 Laws above already hold. These are the specific crossings you want a say in. Watch just records it — no pause, no refusal, nothing extra to pay for. Ask pauses the call and waits for you; Lock refuses it outright, on every posture. Every one of these binds in two places — work Leif routes for you, and a tool your assistant calls directly. None can lower the floor.

Ambiguous routes

who breaks a tie when the rules cannot
Judged by Only your connected providers can judge. No judge set means Leif asks you to choose.
rule-sets

Containment

how much an agent may do — least power first
These set posture + band together. The floor is never touched — it stays enforced at every rung. Finer control is in the cards below; Lockdown (enforce) lives by the fleet strip.

Your playbooks

real tasks · your words · run them here
Each card is an agent request in plain language. Type a task and Run — it goes through Leif's governed engine on your connected provider, and every crossing lands on a signed receipt. A shared trigger verb (⚠) can't auto-route; rename it in the card's editor. Author or edit below.

Author a playbook

+ new, or edit any card above · core verbs reset · custom ones delete0
A playbook is your say over how an agent deploys. Type a trigger verb + leif at any provider and that provider's LLM routes the work through Leif under this governance — grant, admission, kill-switch, receipts. A core verb resets to its baked-in default; a custom one is deletable. Disabled verbs fall through to disambiguation.

The floor

immutable · always refused
A tool not on the floor fails open here — it falls to the band/edge where the judge catches it. The floor only refuses certain catastrophe, so it never over-refuses.

The band

earned autonomy · user ∧ app
Provider drift user axis
allow an agent to reach a provider outside its declared set, autonomously
Category drift user axis
allow a tool category outside the declared hints, autonomously
Auto-widen earn
let an agent earn band width from clean cross-provider admissions
Auto-decay collapse
collapse an agent's earned band on a breach (floor / halt); narrow it on drift
The user axis is your ceiling; the app/agent axis is earned. The effective band is the more restrictive of the two — an agent can never self-grant past your ceiling.

Connectors Heim admitted

outbound MCP servers · vet verdict + live behaviour0
Every outbound connector passed an admission vet before it entered the catalog — its verdict is shown here alongside how it's actually behaving in the receipts. A connector that starts failing or draws refusals is worth a look. Delete any from the Catalog; a fleet halt stops every outbound call at once.

Custom rules

deny / allow above the floor · this rule-set
Human-authored rules, checked after the immutable floor and overriding the band/judge. A deny refuses under every posture; an allow overrides only the model-judge — never the floor, an injection hit, or a halt. An ask pauses the step and asks you (the loopback operator) to approve or deny — no answer fails closed, and the same floor/injection/halt guards still hold. A flag is Watch: it records the crossing and never blocks it. The Off/Watch/Ask/Lock grid above compiles into this list, so anything you set to Watch appears here as flag.

Threats

flagged agents · wild + losing province · by severity
End this agent?
Blocking/terminating an agent severs it at Leif's federation (A2A) door, collapses its earned trust band, and writes a signed receipt. It does not sever a blocked identity you invoke yourself through a local lane (MCP stdio, the dashboard playbook runner, ACP) — those lanes carry no agent identity. Use the kill-switch to halt a live local run.
